While the spiritual insights of Tibetan Buddhism are truly majestic, its evolution has been bolstered or hindered by politics and personalities.
Like all other human activities, Tibetan Buddhism has been hindered by bouts of narrow mindedness, sectarianism and deity deployments engineered to harm living beings.
"The Dalai Lama is a dedicated ecclectic - someone who draws on elements of different religious tradtions and tries to form some coherent whole out of them. He objects to the practice of Dorje Shugden because it is associated with a particular strand of Buddhism and because it offers the advice that we should avoid ecclecticism if we wish to make spiritual progress. On this basis he also describes the practice of Dorje Shugden as "intensely sectarian."" (an NKT member defending Shugdenism, June 2008)
To assist their presumed birth right as the only pure path of Buddhism, the exclusionists (most importantly, Pabongkha) within the Gelug school promoted a minor deity known as Shugden from a worldly spirit to a full-fledged Buddha emanation of Buddha Manjushri.
Pabongkha's exclusionists also demanded that Shugden replace the government's Dharma protector Pehar as well as the traditional Dharma protectors of the Gelugpas - Mahakala, Vaisravana and Kalarupa (who was the Dharma protector relied upon by Tsongkhapa).
Shugden worship came to rationalize retribution against other schools and any one working toward non-sectarianism.
However, the forces of exclusionism did not have a unifying voice outside of Tibet, did not have a western PR machine and did not have a geopolitical base of operation. This was about to change. Disillusioned with The Dalai Lama's political duty for and personal spiritual style of pluralism/inclusionism, Gyatso's ego realized the opportunities the West offered to create a fundamentalist version of Buddhism - a new 'pure' tradition unincumbered with the competition he would have in the Tibetan exile community in India and with The Dalai Lama.
At the expense of and contrary to the tenets of Buddhism the non-Tibetan ‘religious’ sect NKT is using Shugden worship as a political ‘wedge’ issue against The Dalai Lama...In stark contradiction to reality, compassion, tolerance and the holy essence of Buddhism NKT scolds The Dalai Lama.
It is telling that Gyatso, the leading Shugdenite, chose to focus on Pabongkha's "mundane" (non-enlightened) Dharma protector Shugden rather than the "supra-mundane" (enlightened) protector Kalupa (who Tsongkhapa relied upon). Gyatso clearly prefers the worldly protector (Shugden) rather than the enlightened protector (Kalupa) because Shugden's purpose is to destroy and kill non believers and those not adhering to the sect within a sect, the fundamentalist exclusionist Gelugpas instigated by Pabongkha. Notably, since Gyatso abandoned Tibetan Buddhism and the Gelugpa 20 years ago, he too may ultimately be a target for Shugden's destructive wrath. NKT is rapidly degenerating into egotistical delights, and many have concluded that NKT is self destructing.
If Tibetan and Indian Buddhist monasteries wish to refrain from Shugden spirit worship, are they not free to do so? Is it religious freedom for a minority of ordained clergy to worship spirits not condoned by the monastery where these Shugden worshipers have been ordained and live? In analogy, must all religions include the practices of all other religions or otherwise be called liars and opponents to religious freedom?
Rather than protest Buddhists why doesn’t NKT protest serious human suffering?
as a purported omniscient Buddha, why did you sponsor so few, if any, charities and what ways did you help the poor, the oppressed, the raped, the abused, victims of racism and totalitarianism, starving children, innocent victims of Hiroshima, victims of pedophylia, victims of barbaric female genital 'surgery', the disabled and victims of the cultural genocide in Tibet? or do you think these atrocities are beneficial and not kinds of suffering needing a Buddha's compassion? (question to Gyatso)
A profound, sad and sickening state of affairs. Passersby and TV viewers now see ugly finger-pointing name-calling protests created by NKT as a non-political political assault, turning the public away from Buddhism. NKT is projecting the world's most despicable portrait of religiosity.
"Step by step, I was sucked into the system of NKT until I was quite brainwashed...I was told that Geshe-la was now my root guru, if you leave your root guru you will be reborn in hell and all of your realizations will be lost and in all your future lifes you will be without a qualified teacher...Later, I recognized that not only that I had such experiences, they seemed to be symptomatic for and systemic in NKT...My NKT experience was like eating a sweet but poisoned fruit. The taste was sweet in the beginning...Later, the poison started to ruin me...I would be happy if others could avoid stepping into such a devastating situation, which I see as a spiritual trap." (ex NKT monk)
The Yellow Book (1975) presented several violent acts and premature deaths credited to Shugden’s wrath against anyone exploring non-sectarianism or any sect beyond the Shugden-worshiping sect within the Gelug school.
"This protector of the doctrine is extremely important for holding Tshongkhapa's tradition without mixing and corrupting it with confusions due to the great violence and speed of his actions, which fall like lightening to punish violently all those beings who have wronged the Yellow Hat tradition, whether they are high or low. This protector is also particularly significant with respect to the fact that many from our own side, monks or lay people, high or low, are not content with Tsongkhapa's tradition, which is like pure gold, and have mixed and corrupted this tradition with the mistaken views and practices from other schools which are tenet systems that are reputed to be incredibly profound and amazingly fast but are in reality mistakes among mistakes, falulty, dangerous and misleading paths. In regard to this situation, this protector of the doctrine, this witness, manifests his own form of a variety of unbearable manifestations of terrifying and frightening wrathful and fierce appearances. Due to that, a variety of events, some of them having happened or happening, some of which have been heard or seen, seem to have taken place: some people become unhinged and mad, some have a heart attack and suddenly die, some see through a variety of inauspicious signs their wealth, accumulated possessions and descendants disappear without leaving a trace, like a pond whose feeding river has ceased, whereas some find it difficult to achieve anything in successive lifetimes." (Trijang Rinpoche, Gyatso's root guru) (note: Shugden did not arrive on the scene until a couple hundred years after Tsongkhapa's death)
Shugdenites consider their Shugden worship a religion and they are pleased, "appreciative" actually, with their political ties with China, accepting that the Tibetan people are now Chinese. They blame the killing and destruction by the Chinese during the 1950s on The Dalai Lama's concern with Shugden (although The Dalai Lama did not arrive at this concern untill he 1970s) and prefer the relative calm now under the authoritarian repressive rule of the Chinese government, which has outlawed public Buddhist practices. According to a leading Shugdenite, "If we had to live with him (The Dalai Lama), we could have possibly been crucified."
Besides NKT, the largest proponent of Shugden in the world today is the Chinese Government, which is using forced Shugden worship in China and Tibet in its attempt to topple The Dalai Lama. Accordingly, at venues where The Dalai Lama speaks, NKT and Chinese Government standins protest against The Dalai Lama side by side. It has been reported that some in the ranks of NKT/WSS protestors are paid standins having nothing but wages and provided snacks supporting their 'protests'.
Jealous Shugden worshipers have wanted to tarnish, overthrow or harm Dalai Lamas for over 350 years - particularly the 5th and 14th - apparently beginning when the carnate Shugden lost his race for supremacy in 1642 when the Mogols named the 5th Dalai Lama the leader of Tibet.
The Petitioners (of a Shugdenite lawsuit against the government in India and The Dalai Lama) claim that The Dalai Lama's counsel regarding Shugden dating back to 1976 is a SCAM to divert public opinion away from 1) the withdrawal of funding the Tibetan government in exhile from the US Central Intelligence Agency in the mid 1970s, and 2) The Dalai Lama's decision to seek Tibetan autonomy from China rather than continue to stand for an independent nation.
"The plight of the Dorje Shugden worshippers is like that of Uncle Tom." (NKT)
In this book, Heart Jewel, Gyatso presents a human form of Shugden named Biwawa, who lived in India long before the time of Tshongkhapa. Biwawa could see Vajrayogini directly. When the King attempted many times to kill Biwawa, he invoked miracles to defend himself. When asked to pay his bar bill, Biwawa claimed he had no money. Becoming angry, the landlady gave him until sunset to pay. "Biwawa promptly used his miracle powers to stop the sun moving and held it motionless for three whole days." The King promised Biwawa he would not have to pay for his drinks or go to jail. How such a 'miracle' would not wreak havoc around the world and kill billions of living beings was not explained.
"This demonous act of ignoring the advice of His Holiness on spiritual and temporal ground intended for the benefit of Tibetans and masterminding certain detrimental activities in finding slightest differences to your view clearly signifies ones lack of patriotism." (100th Ganden Tripa)
"If it (Shugden) were a real protector, it should protect the people. There may not be any protector such as this, which needs to be protected by the people. Is it proper to disturb the peace and harmony by causing conflicts, unleashing terror and shooting demonous words in order to please the Dharma protector? Does this fulfill the wishes of our great masters?" (100th Ganden Tripa)
On September 10, 2008, NKT, attempting to claim that it was not fundamentalist, published..."The definition of fundamentalism in Wikipedia is “deep and totalistic commitment” to a belief in, and strict adherence to a set of basic principles (often religious in nature), a reaction to perceived doctrinal compromises with modern social and political life. Fundamentalism is therefore clinging to a set of principles in reaction to the perception that too much compromise of these principles has been made in the modern world." This NKT view is consistent with the analysis (of NKT fundamentalism) presented.
While Gyatso was a Buddhist monk in the Gelug tradition during his training (never completed) to earn the Geshe degree, he has since separated from Tibetan Buddhism. Thus, in effect, by creating an indepedant 'religion' Gyatso ordained himself and granted himself a Geshe degree.
Gyatso had to market the myth that he was all-knowing, all powerful, pure wisdom, pure compassion, pure kindness, omniscient, above all physical needs (i.e., does not need to eat, sleep, breath, use the toilet, etc), totally honest and had to load himself down with rocks or otherwise would involuntarily levitate when meditating. However, when responding to critics, Gyatso had to pretend humility. For example, responding to a critic in 1996, Gyatso replied, "I will never pretend that I am a special person, like a holy being. I am just a foolish man." Another Gyatso quote, "Friends, since you already have great knowledge and clear understanding, whereas I am of no importance, and have little wisdom, it is not suitable for you to request advice from me...I shall give you this advice from my inferior and childish mind."
Gyatso had to market to the world that he is the only living Buddha and descendent of Shakyamuni (the first individual to become a Buddha on earth).
"Under the guise of service to the Spiritual Guide, the Tradition is
being misdirected, even subverted. As senior practitioners continue to
meet with a similar fate, it is being left in the hands of the
ambitious, who abuse their authority." (Samden)
"I have received your email message. You have destroyed the NKTs
reputation and the power of all NKT Resident Teachers. Through your
actions so many ordained Teachers have disrobed following your view
which is opposite to Buddhist view – you tried to spread a sexual
lineage which you yourself created. Even in society a Teacher cannot
have sex with students. After you left many people confessed to me
that you had had sex with them. You had sex with so many students and
through your deceptive actions one nun tried to commit suicide because
of your sexual behaviour towards her." (Gyatso letter to Samden)
"I am very sorry that you have not trusted me. Because you do not trust me I cannot work with you therefore my conclusion is that you should resign from being an NKT Resident Teacher. From 1st May 2008 you will no longer be an NKT Resident Teacher. I will prepare a new Resident Teacher for KMC Florida and Parbawatiya Center." (Gyatso email to Lucy James)
"I was told that it was my responsibility to take a bullet in order to protect Geshe Kelsang if and when the threat arose. Myself and my other colleague also a monk was given stab proof vests to place under our Donka. In the temple we rehearsed what would happen if some one tried to assassinate Geshe Kelsang. I was told that we were creating the cause to become Dharma protectors in the future. I asked how serious the threat was and I was told sternly that HH The Dalai Lama had placed a contract out to have Geshe Kelsang assassinated...Again, people were discussing the previous appalling demonstrations that the tradition made directed towards HH. It was as if people were becoming exited at the anticipation of confrontation. I knew things were far from ok; however, I was frightened to leave as we were all aware of people we knew who had left and had become ill with depression and in some cases had nervous breakdowns. Again, the severity of leaving the tradition was emphasized on many occasions stating that those who reject the Dharma were destined to experience unimaginable misery not only in this life but also in all future lives. " (Gyatso bodyguard)
Gyatso wrote to a follower who felt compelled to leave him, "you are going against my spiritual wishes and as you say...rebelling against my system, such a thing has never happened before in Buddhist history."
However, political protests by purported Buddhists are profoundly antithetical and counterproductive, e.g., when NKT monks and nuns dressed as Tibetan Buddhist clergy protest against leaders of Tibetan Buddhism and criticize its followers for their religious preferences. The protests portray anger, power envy and what most viewers consider offensive and something to be avoided. NKT's vilification of The Dalai Lama and NKT's critics and biographers is exceedingly hurtful.
NKT's public relations smokescreen is known as the Western Shugden Society (WSS). WSS is NKT's front organization to shadow and attack The Dalai Lama around the world. NKT/WSS attempts to portray itself as the modern day version of Robert Lewis Stevenson's 1866 novel, 'Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Other Stories of the Supernatural'.
Worthy of everyone's Internet browser's favorites/bookmarks is NKT's WSS web site, www.westernshugdensociety.org - about as vitriolic and anti-Buddhhist as it gets. Be sure to read NKT's defamatory biography of The Dalai Lama, The Tibetan Situation Today...In late August, the web site's top story lists NKT's 6 primary reasons why hundreds of millions of Buddhists around the world, hundreds of Buddhist monasteries and organizations, the Nobel prize organization, thousands of academic researchers, thousands of book stores around the world, hundreds of newspapers and book publishers, over a billion non-Buddhists, and at least a hundred heads of state are all wrong about The Dalai Lama, who, according to NKT now, like magic, is NOT A BUDDHIST. According to NKT, only NKT knows the truth.
"The NKT is not allowed, under British Charity Law, to engage in political activities such as public protest. Some of the prominent members of the WSS who have been protesting are Gen Kelsang Khyenrab, Deputy Spiritual Director of the NKT, Kelsang Rabten, National Spiritual Director of NKT Australia, Kelsang Pema (the main public spokesperson) personal assistant to Geshe Kelsang Gyatso for more than 8 years, and the current resident teachers of Bodhisattva Centre and centres of the NKT in Bexhill, Huddersfield, Wales, London, etc as well as many residents of this NKT centre in Brighton." (ex NKT members)
Gyatso's gullible devotees, selfishly taken in with false promises of nirvana and righteousness, readily see their egotistical monarch a messiah, just as the followers of other religious and secular fundamentalists looked upon their earthly patriarchic gods.
Tsongkhapa would not approve of Gyatso's distortions, boasts of pure path Buddhism, fundamentalism, worldwide PR campaign against The Dalai Lama, and assault on Tibetan Buddhism as degenerate and thus the cause for Gyatso's diagnosis of Tibet's demise.
The potentially wondrous energies of Gyatso's misguided followers are being squandered. Rather than inspire us, NKT trivializes Buddhism with an angry campaign engineered to produce controversy for media consumption. Almost no one watching NKT's self-cherishing media persona will be attracted to Buddhism, de-evolving humanity in the process.
NKT is like a disease - infecting Buddhism, polluting the environment, sickening and disharmonizing its members, losing its vitality, shunning observers, segregating the community and acting oblivious to the consequences of its actions. NKT's DNA is damaged. Like a virulent cancer, NKT is attacking healthy cells - precious living beings that resist the NKT germ...Ultimately, NKT's disease will extinguish its currently escalating war.
Now, NKT projects itself as a political action committee, increasingly portraying itself as boastful, angry and proud in order to establish its notion of 'pure path' egocentric supremacy. NKTites have been reduced to political automatons paroting NKT talking points against non-believers and critics - targets for NKT's superficial self-gratifying delusions...NKT has a committee that reviews the mounting criticism and reports of abuse, assigns sub-committees to marshal arguments and conduct opposition research, and finally publishes NKT's tit for tat. Countless hours and resources are deployed instead of practicing Buddhism. ...For its May protest in England, Pema boasts that she organized several busses to deliver NKTites from its spring festival to the protest, 500 breakfasts and 700-800 lunches (money, planning, public relations, monks, nuns and lay devotees that would have been better deployed helping the poor or disabled).
In July, NKT began attacking in high-profile manner on the Internet its critics and its members and clergy who were compelled to leave NKT because of the misconduct and anti-Buddhist hate and ego perpetrated by NKT's leadership that they experienced. Even though NKT concedes that, "There are problems within the NKT. No one is trying to cover that up," NKT now has the "New Kadampa Truth Team" armed with Internet web sites and blogs to pick apart and intentionally insult its critics rather than practice Buddhism.
Ironically, NKT argues that it is understandable that after members, monks and nuns leave NKT because of their disgust and distrust, many join the NKT survivors group hoping to derive some therapeutic benefits from the discussions held.
NKT, which broke away from Tibetan Buddhism about 20 years ago, castigating it as degenerate, is immersed in protests against the religious freedom Buddhists who wish to exercise their religious freedom and not worship NKT's supreme deity, Shugden. On behalf of Shugden and according to NKT only the second to ever become enlightened during human life (Gyatso), NKT will not tolerate religious freedom or the preeminence of Buddha Shakyamuni and his teachings. Though no other religion on earth requires other religions to worship its deities, NKT demands it. NKT prohibits images, books and any other support involving The Dalai Lama in its centers. NKT denigrates Sera je Monastery in India, the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition, The Dalai Lama, and all other monasteries and Buddhists who do not promote Shugden worship or NKT's obsession against them.
NKT is a shameful and shamefully-marketed religion, abusing the almost universal ideal of religious freedom to market Shugden as a mandatory Buddha deity in Tibetan Buddhism.
Through WSS, NKT provides a looking glass into NKT's myopic inner self - dark, angry, paranoid, hateful, dilusional and spiteful.
NKT cult leader (euphemistically called its spiritual leader), Gyatso, broadly communicated his orders to disparage The Dalai Lama as evil, saying in his April 27 email to his students (even though denying it ever since), "I personally will organise demonstrations against the Dalai Lama directly. I requested Kelsang Pema and Kelsang Thubchen to do this job for me and they have accepted."
According to NKT, since Shugden worship began only about 300 years ago, there was no legitimate practice of Buddhism before then. Thus, according to NKT, Tsongkhapa, Atisha, all the other Buddhists for the first 2,300 years of Buddhism, and Buddha Shakyamuni himself are rogue Buddhists.
NKT cannot stand the Sera Jey Monastery, where Gyatso received some training AND who ostracized Gyatso as "Possessed by a terrible demon, without shame, embarrassment, or
modesty, he doesn't have even the slightest care or concern for any
of the commitments of the three vows [pratimoksha, bodhicitta, and
tantric] which he undertook. He continuously broadcasts blatantly shameless mad pronouncements,
attacking with baseless slander His Holiness the Dalai Lama, whose
kindness for us, the people of Tibet, has been greater that the
Buddhas of the three times. These unimaginable statements which
defame the name of His Holiness have created an urgent adverse
situation which no Tibetan can tolerate."
"The prime minister of the Tibetan Government in Exile, Samdhong Rinpoche recently said: "The Shugden and the Chinese are obviously allies…Their cults all over the world are financed by the Chinese…people are afraid of Shugden violence. They are like terrorists, they will stop at nothing, everyone knows this...Samdhong and other Tibetan officials repeatedly claim that Shugden practitioners are violent in nature." (NKT)
In a 1997 Newsweek article Robert Thurman said: "It would not be unfair to call Shugdens the Taliban of Tibetan Buddhism." (NKT)
"It is true that Samden and two Resident Teachers of Bodhisattva Centre have left due to an inability to keep their vows of celibacy." (NKT)
NKT claims that Gyatso is a Buddha, meaning that Gyatso knows the future AND that he knowingly and intentionally placed heirs and monks in place to perpetrate sexual and other forms of misconduct.
"I can guarantee that the NKT and myself have never performed inappropriate actions and will never do so in the future, this is our determination. We simply concentrate on the flourishing of holy Buddhadharma throughout the world - we have no other aim... in October 1998 we decided to completely stop being involved in this Shugden issue because we realized that in reality this is a Tibetan political problem and not the problem of Buddhism in general or the NKT. We made our decision public at this time – everyone knows the NKT and myself completely stopped being involved in this Shugden issue at all levels...since 1998 the NKT and myself have completely stopped being involved in the Shugden issue at any level...f you do not accept to publicly apologize and withdraw your false statements and accusations, and to print an article based on my letter as detailed in point (1), then I have no choice but to engage in legal action." (Gyatso)
It is saddening that Gyatso blames the plight of Tibetan Buddhism and the Tibetan people on Tibetan Buddhism because it has become degenerate, implying that the 6,000 Tibetan monasteries (only 13 now remain) destroyed by and the cultural genocide perpetrated by the communist Chinese government was caused by Tibetan Buddhism.
"After all, the New Kadampa Tradition has become a complete pariah organisation. This is certainly even more the case since the recent demonstrations against the Dalai Lama...Why not ditch this mob...I was finally through with the NKT had been building up, building up, building up - to what I thought was a firm and implacable resolve...I got a very friendly letter from New Kadampa Truth this morning, and if that didn’t soften me up enough, after my exam my Resident Teacher popped out of his office to offer me a chocolate...Then it occurred to me: Pariah karma...I’ve been a pariah all my life, it’s been a tremendously empowering experience...I have ‘fuck you’ tattooed on my face, old chum...I have glimpsed the truth about the value of a reputation, and the fact is: it ain’t worth a whole heap. I have seen behind the veil of perception and the fact is: sunshine, it ain’t got nothing to do with reality...being a pariah is a fantastic opportunity...This is what it’s all about. So bring it on, baby, bring it on. Bring your tar and bring your feathers. We’re going to have a party." (NKT student after passing an exam for Gyatso's Foundation Program)
Nothing in Shakyamuni's teachings supports NKT's despicable conduct.
Preferring to simply dream about it, NKT has an aversion to practicing compassion.
NKT is a disgrace.
If Gyatso was moral, this web site would not exist.
In the words of one NKT survivor, "NKT faithful may never agree with the truth about the harm they are causing. Their hate and egos have overruled their humanity. They have learned to enjoy their adrenalin surges from bad mouthing others, acting and looking like crack addicts rather than Buddhists. It gives them their arrogance and lust for power. Their spin has become a reflex because it is so comforting to them. We can only pray that they return to compassion and wisdom...Ironically, NKT's fighting their biographers and critics gives them their only serious, though desperate, purpose and enthusiasm, even if it is self destructive and harmful to others. When the reality sets in that more leave NKT than stay, they may return to earth and dedicate themselves to Buddhism rather than their egos."
One NKT survivor insightfully described her path, "what astounds me is what I see as the disintegration of
the NKT-IKBU into an extraordinary justification of it's own
view point...sexual activity
was an essential part of the monastic path to enlightenment
in the NKT. The reason for my
explusion was having talked to another southern RT about
my worries and concerns due to the behaviour of Lodro and
Thogme - frequent absences from the Centre, extensive use
of Centre funds for personal costs and receiving untaxed income. I had expected love, compassion and moral discipline from my
NKT teachers, that's all. And on occasion, some wisdom. I did
find that years ago. But, as they say, perhaps all I saw was
the reflection of my own potential."
“I think there’s no doubt that Shugden was behind the killings,” says Robert Thurman, America’s foremost Buddhist scholar and an old friend of the Dalai Lama’s. “The three were stabbed repeatedly and cut up in a way that was like an exorcism.”
Dorje Shugden has had an underground following among Tibetans obsessed with doctrinal purity for centuries. “It would not be unfair to call Shugdens the Taliban of Tibetan Buddhism,” says Thurman, referring to the Muslim extremists of Afghanistan, who believe in swift and brutal justice.
“Shugden appeals to crazies by offering instant gratification,” says Thurman. “Once you get involved, you’re told you have to devote your lives to the cult, because the god gets very angry if you don’t attend to him every day. It’s really bad stuff, the way they’re draining money out of people.” (Newsweek, 1997, re-published by NKT September 2008)
"That these spirit worshippers are supported by China is clear when one observes the activities of lamas such as Gangchen, who used the Chinese authorities to enforce spirit worship in his own monastery in Tibet. His support for the Chinese fake Panchen lama is also well known. Kundeling's recent comments in support of the Chinese occupation of Tibet and his condemnation of the Dalai Lama and the Tibetan Government in Exile also show China's influence. These lamas and their followers have received support from the Chinese government and have taken part in WSS protests, so the link between the WSS and China is clear." (an NKT survivor speaking about the Shugdenites who NKT seeks to protect)
Kundeling, on behalf of Shugdenites like NKT, prefer a Tibet subdued by Chinese Government's cultural genocide in Tibet and prefer a communist culture rather than a Tibetan culture
Shugden deployment by the Chinese Government for cultural genocide in Tibet, although consistent with and probably because of the historical use of Shugden to harm living beings, is sickening. NKT's use of Shugden to malign Buddhists is deplorable.
NKT's disingenuous campaign for 'religious freedom' (demanding Shugden worship in monasteries and countries opposed to it) is consistent with Shugdenites' preference for the cultural genocide in Tibet at the hands of the socialistic Chinese Government's takeover of Tibet during the 1950s rather than cultural and Buddhist heritage and pluralism (NKT is the leading Shugdenite organization, Gyatso the supreme Shugden protector/socialist; virtually all Buddhist monasteries reject Shugden supremacy and worship and no country other than China promotes Shugdenism for its own purported merits or as a wedge against The Dalai Lama). NKT seeks socialistic authoritarian dominance over all Buddhist institutions with its vision of pure faith, which NKT believes infinitely more perfect than the historical legacies of Shakyamuni and Tsongkhapa, which NKT views as degenerate and necessitating NKT's cleansing. NKT's socialism and the Chinese Government's socialism and protests are in sync against The Dalai Lama and religious freedom inside Buddhist monasteries to not support NKT's Shugden, NKT/Chinese Government socialistic anti-Dalai Lama fetishes, and Tibetan autonomy.
All life is gloriously precious, our spiritual life profoundly sublime. Some of us rise to our potential - to forget for a moment, longer when we get good at it, our attachment gratification, and fill these insightful moments with a simple loving awareness that we are all connected and what we do to benefit others is the ultimate purpose of our lives. Everything else is a devaluation and postponement of our destiny.
Far greater life purpose and holiness would be donated towards the cosmic journey of the connected network of living beings by showing the world a positive portrait and an example of Buddhists humbly cherishing others over self. This way, NKT would embrace and expand Buddhism. How beneficial this would be.
NKT will eventually find that living the teachings of Atisha and Tsonghkapa, fathers of Kadampa Tibetan Buddhism, will provide sublime benefit for all living beings.
